Friday 18th August 6pm @ Glasgow Central Mosque

We are delighted to host this year’s Pakistan Independence Day anniversary celebration dinner.  The event aims to bring together communities and people of all backgrounds, giving them an engaging insight into the life of local Muslims, relations with Pakistan and to promote a greater understanding of Glasgow Central Mosque, Scotland’s largest and first purpose built Mosque. 

We are also pleased to confirm the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, will be attending.

- The Fiqh of Hajj
- Pointers & Advice
- Refreshments will be provided

In addition there will be extra top up weekly sessions to discuss related key issues for those going on Hajj. These will be useful for others generally and therefore you are all encouraged to attend.

Come along to our launch event on Friday 30 June 2017 @ 2.30pm where you will find out about:

The environment and climate change
What we can do as a community to reduce carbon emissions
The aims and objectives of the project

You will also have an opportunity to sign up to our new initiatives which will save you money and save the environment!

Observing six days of fasting during Shawwal together with the Ramadan fasts, are equivalent to fasting all year round.

Those brothers and sisters who were following the Ramdhan timetable for Fajr and Sehri can now follow the above timetable in Shawwal.  This can be downloaded here and a paper copy can also be picked up within Glasgow Central Mosque.

***Eid Al-Fitr 2017 – 1438 AH Announcement***

We are pleased to confirm the moonsighting committee of Glasgow has decided Eid Al-Fitr will be on Sunday 25th June 2017. 

This will mark the first day of Shawwal 1438 AH.

The prayer times in GCM will be as follows:

Fajr Jamaat will be at 4am. Eid prayer times are:

5am (preceded by a talk in Urdu) 

8am, 10am & 11.30am (each preceded by a talk in both English and Urdu)

In'sha'allah tomorrow night, Wednesday 21st June @ 11.30pm, will be the conclusion of the Quran in Taraweeh plus duaa at Glasgow Central Mosque.

Again please note Isha Jammat will be @ 11.30pm.

With the last 10 days of this blessed month fast approaching, the opportunity to enter the Masjid as a Mu’takif for I’tikaf is now available. 

What is I’tikaf? 

"To confine oneself in a mosque for prayers, invocations and Ibadah, leaving the worldly activities for a limited number of days”

Following the Imam's meeting tonight, GCM will be observing the first fast of Ramadhan tomorrow Saturday 27th May, which means Tarawih commences tonight.

GCM, in conjunction with other mosques in and around Glasgow will meet on the 26th May to establish the beginning of Ramadhan 2017/1438.

The commencement of Ramadhan follows the sighting of a new moon that indicates the beginning of the new Islamic month. Sightings will be sourced from various locations subject to deliberation by the panel, thus ensuring a broad consensus. In the absence of a sighting, Ramadhan will commence the following day after completing 30 days for Sha'ban.
