30th Anniversary Renovation
The early Muslims were gifted visionaries who wanted to build an architectural jewel. Their hard work paid off when Glasgow Central Mosque opened in 1984 as the first purpose-built mosque in Glasgow at a cost of £10 million in today's terms.
As one of the most recognisable buildings in the city, it is visited by anyone wanting to learn more about Islam and Muslims. Five thousand of us visit it every week to pray, gain knowledge, get married or attend funeral prayers, which makes it the focal point of our lives from beginning to end.
In its 30th year of heavy use, the wear and tear is showing. Join us in polishing the jewel back to its former splendour by donating towards prayer carpets, roof repairs, toilet upgrades, car park completion and restoration of the magnificent golden dome which beautifies the city skyline.
Note: the boilers and women's air conditioning are complete. Quotes for the dome, roof and car park are being obtained. The carpet will follow the roof repairs.
This is an excellent opportunity to earn a recurring reward (sadaqah jariyah) for you, your family or loved ones who have passed away. Allah will reward you every time someone uses the facilities that you helped build or improve.
"Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him likewise in Paradise." [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]
If you have any suggestions about how the mosque could be improved, please let us know and also if you have a business that can provide high quality fixtures and fittings at a substantial discount. Even your expertise alone would be welcome.
You can donate by cash or cheque at our office between 10 am and 10 pm, or you can donate online. Jazakumullahu khairan.
