The direction to the Qibla (i.e. Makkah) can be ascertained using the map below. This method is more accurate than using a compass.

The 2nd Asr is the Hanafi opinion. Other scholars have the other opinion, but both opinions are valid.

Wa alikum assalam,

Fajr: 2 Sunna then 2 Farz

Zuhar: 4 Sunna 4 Farz 2 Sunna 2 Nafal

Asr: 4 Sunna 4 Farz

Maghrib: 3 Farz 2 Sunna 2 Nafal

Isha: 4 Sunna 4 Farz 2 Sunna 2 Nafal 3 Witar 2 Nafal.

I hope this will help.

May Allah be our guiding light

Salam,
Nothing to be ashamed of, it's great that you're asking...
Would love to help, but I'm not sure I understand your question, what exactly don't you understand about prayers/namaz? is it the actual "how to pray", or the timings for each prayer?
you asked to "post all five prayers so i can learn them by heart", they're really all very similar procedure-wise, but they differ in length, so you don't have to learn five prayers by heart. Do you know al-Fatiha by heart? and any short Surahs? how about Tashahud?
If you don't I'd be happy to post them for you :)
Salam,
Nancy

the time you have for dawn is not correct nor for sunset i checked it out with the scottish weather center for scotland the sun did at that time start to rise later than what you have i thought you could not read namaz until you saw the first crack of light from the dawn and before the sun sets thats why iam sorry if i cause any offence ?
i know the azan comes first just as the sun starts to appear then fajar namaz

According to the BBC Weather Website, Sunset and Sunrise are eight minutes and ten minutes later respectively, compared with what the Mosque's Prayer Timetable shows. If you follow the Mosque's Timetable, then you'll always be praying within the correct time period. In other words, you won't accidentally pray Fajr after Sunrise, nor Maghrib before Sunset.

A more technical answer to your question is that the year is actually 365.2422 days long. This means that the Prayer Timetable is losing up to a minute of accuracy every year (until the leap year when this drift is compensated for).

The Sunrise/Sunset almanac calculations also depend on the algorithm used.

i don't get this timetable...i want to ask u if i av 2 fast accordind 2 wa time i'll be opening my fast n closing it???according to fajr or sunrise??

»

admin | 5 August 2009 - 9:49am

You'll close your fast (i.e. the end of sehri) five minutes before the time displayed in the Fajr column, and you'll open it at Sunset.

»

Anonymous | 5 August 2009 - 1:31pm

salaam

can u explain why fajr is at 1.33am on your timetable but other namaz timetables say this is too early for fajr to start.

what time should i stop my fast at (i.e sehri) tomorror 6/8/09. and when should i pray the fajr namaz

»

admin | 5 August 2009 - 2:55pm

The Imams of Glasgow are working towards a unified timetable for the whole of Glasgow. Currently, one institution still needs convincing before this can become a reality.

You can start/close your fast five minutes before the Fajr start time, and pray Fajr at the Fajr start time.

Assalmu Alikum

I have 3 boxes of used clothes, I need to know if the central mosque can take these clothes or any other place that accept (Sadka) in Glasgow ?

»

admin | 10 August 2009 - 9:30am

There is a clothes bank in the Car Park which belongs to Islamic Relief.

»

Anonymous | 11 August 2009 - 9:34am

what do you mean "You can start/close your fast five minutes before the Fajr start time, and pray Fajr at the Fajr start time."

surely you can eat till fajar starts -who speak of this 5 min thing ? who is admin ?

will central masjad continue down this 1.33 fajar start date or will they realise this is incorrect and come in line with other masjid ? such as farooq ?

»

admin | 11 August 2009 - 2:23pm

The point about the five minute gap is that Ramadhan timetables will state that Sehri ends five minutes before Fajr starts, and this is what the previous commenter is likely to be using. This isn't a Fiqh forum, so it's not necessary to expand upon the irrelevance of the five minute gap.

»

admin | 13 August 2009 - 3:28pm

The electronic version of the Timetable is now available on this page.

when can we pray fajr, and why is there such a big difference in time of fajr and congregation time?

»

Anonymous | 25 August 2009 - 3:03pm

why are there two times for sehri approx half hour apart?

Which is the correct one to follow?

Jazakallha

»

admin | 26 August 2009 - 11:03am

The Timetable only has one time for the end of Sehri. You may be referring to the Radio Ramadhan timetable which shows times according to differing scholarly opinions. Both are considered to be valid opinions - you can follow the time of your local Mosque.

salam
p.s can u guide me
can women offer fajr prayer at home soon as the call for prayer is heard or does she have to wait till the congregation in the mosque starts?
is taharat a must before every wudu? if u used the washroom some time earlier but did not do wudu... would you do taharat before making ablution again??
waiting a reply and jazak Allah khair for your efforts

»

admin | 18 September 2009 - 10:35am

You can perform a prayer as soon as the window for that prayer starts, in other words at the azan time - there's no need to wait for the jamaat time.

You already ensured taharat whilst visiting the washroom, so you don't have to repeat it.

Asalamualikum, I am a regular at the central mosque and appreciate all the arrangments in the mosque. I also do appreciate the knowldege of the Imams. But I have also one point, which I think this is the right place to raise. I have observed that Moulana is sometimes late for the prayers. I agree the late is usually by 30 seconds upto 2 minutes, but late is late and it leaves a wrong impression. I know we all are humans and get caught sometimes and feel that the better way is to acknowledge to the people that I was late even if it is by a minute.
