Hi There,
My name’s Laura Rooney and I am a clinical research nurse working with the University of the West of Scotland. I am due to start an Msc programme in September 2008 and would like to investigate South Asian attitudes and beliefs towards clinical trials as it has been consistently shown in the available literature on this subject that South Asians are consistently under-represented in clinical trials and I would like to identify the reasons why.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in attending short group sessions (one each for males and females) each lasting around 60-90 minutes where we could discuss issues in healthcare research you feel are important to you and also how you feel I may improve access to these opportunities or what may make you more likely to take part in such trials as I aim to look at this from the patient / participants experience. Sessions would be at times suitable for yourselves and all participation would be completely confidential also you will not be required to participate in any clinical trials.
If this is something you may be interested in or you have any comments / thoughts on this issue I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind Regards,
Laura

Hi,
and found your note. I am also a student of UWS doing MSc.
I got very little knowledge about clinical stuff…. as this is not my field… anyways, I will try to sort out things as much as possible. But I don’t know I will be able to check ‘Central Mosque Website’ again, so I am leaving email address b00116182@student.uws.ac.uk
Regards,
