Salat Times

Asalam wa Alaikom ,

As we all know the adhan/azan does not call here in glasgow :( and personally i find it hard to find some reliable prayer times , i think that Glasgow Central Mosque should have an all year round Salat time table posted here on the site .Insha'Allah you will consider my suggesion , and if such a timetable for glasgow already exists i would appreciate being told !

thank you , Wa alaikom asalam .

Walaikumussalam

We'll look into this. In the meantime, please use www.alfurqanmosque.com to see Glasgow's prayer times.

The new prayer time table has been added to this website, it is showing on the main home page (www.centralmosque.co.uk) on the right hand side of the webpage.

The full timetable is now also available in the menu. I hope no-one
timed how long that took :-) Well, actually I had to take the whole
year's prayer times and format them so they can be inserted into the
database. Macros to the rescue here. The PHP code didn't take too long
either - it's just a mod of the Jamaah Time code.

The eagle-eyed amongst you (thanks Maulana Omair) will have noticed that the prayer/salah times were out by one day (i.e. a couple of minutes) recently.

This is because although the prayer times are stored in a database, we want to ignore the "year" part of it, otherwise we'd have to update the database every year. 2008 was a leap year, so using the day of the year to convert the database date to the real date meant that any day of the year after March 1st in the database was actually one day later in reality, i.e. May 5th was the 126th day of the year, not the 125th.

Make sense? Probably not! :-)

i am a little confused as to the fajr salaat times on your timetable. Are these correct? because i picked up a timetable from Al-meezan house in Glasgow and the fajr times are different. the fajr prayer timings are a lot later than the one on your timetable especially in the summer months starting from May. Can you please look into this and clarify? thanks.

Timetables from different Mosques/institutions in Glasgow do vary. The ulema of Glasgow are actually working towards having a "universal" timetable for Glasgow because it's a bit silly that one city has differing times! However, I cannot comment on whether Al-Meezan will jump aboard.

Of course they will. insh'Allah Al-Meezan supports and is committed to any project and initiative which benefits the Islamic needs of the community, especially with regards to the fundamental act of praying at the right time. A standard unified time table is an excellent idea and should be pursued with urgency by our respected Ulema..we're waiting in anticipation !

Salam alaikum,
I was wondering if you could help me as i'm a little confused. I am following your prayer chart for Glasgow Central Mosque and today (2nd June) the printed time states Isha begins at 22.56 and Jama'at for Isha begins 10 minutes after, however i notice that the Jama'at time was scheduled for 22.45 which would mean that Isha would have being prayed before Isha time. Can you clear this up for me? Salam alaikum.

The Isha jamaat time on the Website has now been updated - it sometimes lags behind changes in the Mosque by a few days. Also, the actual jamaat time in the Mosque doesn't always obey the jamaat rules written on the printed version of the timetable. This is an anomaly which should disappear soon, insha Allah.

Salam alaikum

I would like to ask a few Islamic questions to Imam Habib ur Rahman. Could you please tell me the best time to call the mosque to speak to him? In the past I have phoned many times a day to get a chance to speak to him until I finally get him at the appropriate time. I do appreciate that he is very busy but knowing a good time would make it easier to contact him. JazakAllahu khairan.

imam habib ur rahman is not in the country just now. I'm not quite sure when he will be back. Possibly one of his students can tell you when he's back insha allah.

He's back on the 16th of June. The best time to call him is within the two hours after the Zuhr jamaat.

Salam, I am a 22 year old muslim and admit my knowledge of islam is not great. I have purchased many books and find they are very complicated to understand. There are many classes on at the mosque for our brothers and children and I was wondering if classes may be arranged for the sisters in the future. I think it would be a good idea to have atleast 1 day during the week were sisters can come along and and learn more about our faith and ask any questions that they are wanting answered.

Asalaam Alykum

I am very happy to hear the all the mosques in Glasgow are looking to have one set time.
This is great coz whenever I go to families houses the have perhaps a different mosques timetable with different prayer times.

When is this likey to happen?

Currently, one institution still needs convincing before the unified timetable can become a reality.
